Neke Moa is a ringatoi, carver and maker of adornment and objects. Working with gifted and gathered materials from the taiao, pounamu, stone, shell, wood and fibre, her practice fuses customary craft with contemporary art in a distinctive, singular voice.
Her work has been shown nationally and internationally, in 2023 she won the prestigious Herbert Hofmann Prize at Schmuck, and in 2025 received Dame Doreen’s Gift from the Blumhardt Foundation. Her works are held in major public collections, including Te Papa Tongarewa, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, the Dowse and Tāmaki Paenga Hira.
An educator and cultural advocate, Moa has also shared her expertise across the Pacific, sustaining Indigenous adornment traditions while deepening her own practice. She is widely recognised as one of Aotearoa’s leading contemporary Māori adornment artists, weaving whakapapa and ancestral knowledge into every form.
